The WindSCORE consortium gathered on 1st July, 2026 for its first plenary meeting to review the progress of the project in the last seven months and outlook of further work. In this online meeting, partners discussed the work achieved in the running work packages (WP) and to align on the next steps. Marcel Wiggert (Fraunhofer IWES), the project coordinator, opened the session with a brief introduction round of all participants, followed by an overview of recent offshore wind market developments.
Lissie de la Torre (Fraunhofer IWES) presented WP1, covering the KPI framework development, offshore wind pathways, and test cases for criteria evaluation. The discussion that followed highlighted the importance of refining baseline scenarios and test cases.
Christian Andre Andresen (SINTEF) presented WP2, focusing on the mapping of international KPI proposals beyond LCOE, including an example on wind farm-level storage and the need for technology-neutral metrics.
Anne-Laure Barillé (Bio-Littoral) and Florian Mouchel (OPEN-C) presented WP3, covering environmental and socio-economic sustainability criteria. Anne-Laure shared updates on the importance of examining the impact of offshore wind on bird populations and marine habitats, while noting challenges around data accessibility. Florian presented retrospective analyses on the socio-economic impacts of offshore wind, with next steps centred on a critical review of relevant indicators.
Emilio Macías (Fraunhofer IWES) presented WP4, with current progress focused on the analysis of EEG payment data from German operators. Next steps will include a closer look at income data from operational wind farms across the participating countries.
Mini Bajaj (Fraunhofer IWES) provided updates for WP7 and WP8, covering reporting, project management, and the CETP knowledge community. Key milestones included the submission of a fact sheet to the CETP DISCCO portal and participation in the CETP onboarding event earlier in the year. Looking ahead, WindSCORE will be represented at the CETP TRI2 + TRI3 collaborative workshop in Madrid in October 2026, with a poster presentation by IWES, and the first annual CETP report is expected in December 2026.
The meeting encouraged open discussions, allowing consortium members to exchange valuable insights and contribute to the planning of the project’s next steps. This collaborative approach ensures a strong foundation for the project’s future success. The meeting also saw participation from industry partners from Statnett, further emphasizing the project’s strong ties with industry stakeholders.
The WindSCORE team is ready to lay the foundation for the further expansion of offshore wind energy and contribute significantly to a climate-friendly electricity supply.
